01 The opportunity

Most of an American buyer's first impression now happens inside a vertical video.

TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts have moved the first touch of a brand out of the static ad and into nine-by-sixteen video that plays full screen. Native vertical content holds attention and completes at far higher rates than reframed horizontal cuts, and U.S. shoppers say video influenced what they bought. For an Asian brand that is already proven at home, the product is rarely the problem. The gap is footage that was made for the American feed, paced for the American thumb, and spoken in the references a U.S. viewer trusts.
